A VENETIAN GLAIVE
MID 17TH CENTURY
With large knife-like blade with curved leading edge, the back edge with a small nodular projection towards the double-edged point, a tapering prong towards the base, a pair of small basal lugs, and moulded faceted socket, decorated with punched scrollwork throughout and incorporating a coat of arms on both sides (on later fabric-covered staff)
