A GERMAN ENGRAVED STAG HORN POWDER-FLASK; AND A GERMAN ENGRAVED COW HORN POWDER-FLASK
THE FIRST LATE 16TH CENTURY; THE SECOND EARLY 17TH CENTURY
The first with bifocated body, the outer face engraved with a female figure carrying her child, the inner face engraved with a panel of conventional foliage, with moulded iron mounts, the nozzle with spring cut-off and spring closure, and fitted with belt hook; The second with compressed triangular body, the outer face decorated with two sportsmen wildfowling in a river landscape, the inner face engraved with arrangements of fruit and foliage, and fitted with later white metal base and top
