A CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER DISH
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-95)
The shallow dish with an everted rim, finely carved in the middle of the well with a large peony blossom surrounded by squared scroll and floral sprays, encircled by a series of ruyi heads, the cavetto carved with lotus blossoms interspersed by the Eight Buddhist Emblems, bajixiang, below a further band of ruyi heads on the rim, all against a diaper ground, the exterior carved with a dense design of lotus blossoms and scrolls
