A RARE CARVED BAMBOO DOCUMENT HOLDER, A BAMBOO PARFUMIER AND A MOULDED GOURD CRICKET CAGE
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The document holder finely carved and pierced around the exterior with a multi-levelled landscape inhabited by scholars and officials beneath pine trees, the tubular inner section similarly carved, inset with ivory on both ends; the moulded gourd cricket cage with emblems borne on trailing ribbons around the globular body, the base with a Guangxu four-character mark and of the period, the carved ivory cover with shrews and grapes; the bamboo parfumier carved around the exterior with the 'Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove'and inset with ivory on both ends
