A LARGE BRONZE SEATED FIGURE OF SAKYAMUNI
MING DYNASTY, 16TH/17TH CENTURY
Finely cast seated in dhyanasana and hands in varadamudra, dressed in loose flowing robes open at the chest displaying a wan emblem and falling in deep folds onto the flat circular base, the borders of the robes and ribbons of the headdress incised with floral motifs, the rounded face with downcast eyes, wearing a five-tiered tiara around his tightly curled hair, on an elaborately carved wood and gilt lotus pedastal base
