A PAIR OF ROMAN GOLD, GARNET AND PEARL EARRINGS
CIRCA 2ND CENTURY A.D.
Each boat shaped sheet gold hoop tapering at each end to wires which form the closure, a tear-drop shaped box setting attached at the front, with garnet inlay, surrounded with nine wires threaded with small spherical glass beads, an openwork loop bar below with garnet and glass inlays, and four pendant wires below each threaded with a large pearl
1 3/8 in. (3.5 cm.) long max.

Formerly in a European private collection, 1970s.
