In the 1950s-1960s, he took part in excavations in the important Hittite centres of Hattusa, Kültepe and Karatepe. Lots 153, 154, 166, 252, 255, 302, 306, 336, 346 and 364.

With gently sloping sides, flat base and a central depression in the tondo
11 in. (28 cm.) diam.
Provenance
Reputedly found together with lot 154, in Abusir, Egypt, in the 1930s.
Formerly in the collection of the German archaeologist and architect Udo Schwalm (1905-1994), formed between the 1930s and the 1970s.
