CIRCA 1740, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK TO BASE, PRESSNUMMER 26 TO BASE AND COVER
With elaborate pierced scroll handles, painted with European landscape and harbour scenes within elaborate quatrefoil gilt scroll and trellis cartouches with iron-red and purple scrolls between sprays of indianische Blumen, the high domed cover with an acanthus-moulded finial, broad gilt band rims (crack to base extending up one side of tureen, cover cracked across with small associated loss to inner flange, underside with filled rivet holes, slight wear to gilding of cover)
