The state of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti as the leading producer of red Burgundy should be questioned by no one, but what about the White Crown? The Domaine generally harvests the Chardonnay grapes, like their Pinot Noir, last among their peers, and the meager 3000 bottles from old vines on a precious .67 ha of Le Montrachet are vinifed with equal care. The Montrachet is among the finest in the appellation with their old vine character and a magnificent complexity which takes ages to develop. When fully mature, the completeness of flavor is stupendous. Unmistakenly Grand Cru, unmistakenly Montrachet.
