PROBABLY 19TH CENTURY
Of abstract form, the kings and queens of turned column form, the knights with petal heads, the pawns with baluster knopped finials, replaced stained king
The king -- 2¾ in. (7 cm.) high; the pawn -- 2¼ in. (5.7 cm.) high
Together with a birch and walnut folding box board, one side with chequered squares, indistinct ink inscription to the inside edge -- 8¼ in. (21 cm.) wide
