The present sugar-bowls and dessert bowl are from a service of 66 pieces delivered to Mr. Morgan on 31 December 1771, see David Peters, Sèvres Plates and Services of the 18th Century (Little Berkhamsted, 2005), Vol. II, pp. 459-460, service no. 71-6.
Mr. Thomas Morgan was an English china dealer in Arlington Street, London who quit the business the year after this purchase was made.
A similar part service made in 1769 is in the collection of the Dukes of Bedford, Woburn Abbey, Bedfordshire.
Edme-François Bouillat père was a painter of flowers and birds active at Vincennes and Sèvres from 1750 to 1810.
