Painted with ornithological studies of birds among branches and grasses after Buffon, named with their common French names plongeon D'amerique and manaquin des judes within gilt oval cartouches reserved against a gilt band with meandering berried leaves, below a dentil rim, the slightly domed cover with a pompom finial, the border gilt with swags of berried leaves (minor flaking to gilt rim)
