Rectangular, on bun feet, the hinged cover surmounted by two dolphins supporting a rock crystal sphere, the body inscribed 'I WAS WROUGHT FOR ETHEL AMWEG BARBER BY COMMAND OF HER HUSBAND JOHN BARBER IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 1929', with wood interior, marked on body and under base

Lot Essay

This casket was a gift from Edward John Barber (1887-1953), president of Barber Steamship Lines, to his second wife, who he married in 1925.
