Finely painted with a scholar seated at a table before a beautiful river landscape, possibly a depiction of the 4th Century calligrapher Wang Xizhi, gaining inspiration for his fan painting and famous for his love of geese

Lot Essay

Family History relates how this vase was presented by Yuan Shikai to one of his Colonels. The Colonel was executed by a later administration and the vase passed down through the family from whom it was then purchased.
