Celebration of the birth of Margaret Theresa of Spain (1651-1673), with a tournament and an opera by Alberto Vimina in Vienna. She is the central figure in the famous Las Meninas by Diego Velázquez and subject of many of his later paintings. A later portrait of Margaret by Wolfgang Kilian is tipped in. Engraved title, 3 double-page engraved plates by Melchior Küsel. Spectacular fireworks, celebrating the wedding of Leopold I, (1640-1705), Holy Roman Emperor, and Margaret Theresa (1651-1673), of Spain, illuminated the sky of Vienna in December 1666 and are captured on Küsel's plates. Together 7 works in one volume, 2° (282 and 180mm). Early 18th-century Austrian sheep, upper cover stamped with oval gilt supra-libros. Provenance: Johannes Georg Baron Pichelsdorf and Altenburg (binding) -- Paul and Marianne Gourary. (Of the unlisted works, one lacks the plates, one has a single folding plate, and one contains 9 [of 10?] plates.)
