Original publisher's blindstamped green cloth, spine gilt-decorated, Freeman binding variant a, no priority established (corners, head and tail of spine very lightly bumped); modern green morocco-backed clamshell box. Provenance: John Wilson of Edinburgh (near contemporary ink inscription on title) -- R.B. Freeman (Darwin's bibliographer, pencil inscription on verso of front free endpaper).
