Reference 5070 was launched in 2003 and because of its contemporary mien and larger 42 mm. sized case, it met with popular acclaim. It is considered by many Patek Philippe aficionados as one of the best contemporary chronographs. Housing a Nouvelle Lemania base chronograph mechanical movement and comprising 208 hand-finished parts, production of this two-counter chronograph was ceased in 2008. This reference, together with the Sky Moon Reference 5002 (Lot 3157 in this auction), is the largest wristwatch made by Patek Philippe to date.
