With Patek Philippe presentation box, Certificate of Origin, C.O.S.C., and product literature.
Reference 5101 is a perfect example of Patek Philippe's subtle artistry. Launched in 2003, it took no less than three years for the master watchmakers at Patek Philippe to construct this showcase tourbillon, whereby the entire going train was relocated to the dial side so as to showcase the tourbillon on the bridge and transparent case back. Such a wealth of thought went into the development of this new calibre 28-20/222, to the extent that the tourbillon view is located on the reverse so as to prevent ultraviolet rays from harming the tribological properties of the tourbillon and hence leading to a possible decline in accuracy.
Precision is the order of the day with this timepiece, its rotating cage comprises 72 individual parts and at 0.3 grams, weighs less than a feather. Powered by two tandem mainspring barrels that provide a ten-day power reserve, this model is also acknowledged to be the world's first ten-day power reserve tourbillon. All these horological feats discreetly housed in a sleek rectangular case, bearing the legends 10 DAYS and Tourbillon on the dial, one cannot help but be drawn to the very highest levels of horological and aesthetic finesse.
