Neptune, the sea-god, is portrayed against a seascape and surrounded by Nereids, the sea-nymphs and daughters of Nereus - Tethys, the youngest daughter of the Titans, also daughter and wife of Oceanus - Glaucus, the fisherman-turned-sea-god and Scylla, the nymph transformed by the latter into a monster
