Finely carved around the body to depict a group of three scholars gathered around a table drinking tea and deep in discussion, an attendant to one side preparing the tea on a stove, beside overhanging pine trees in a rocky wooded landscape, fitted with a zitan base and collar

The carving style of this brushpot is closely related to the work of the master craftsman, Wu Zhifan, who was active during the Kangxi period.
