The tapered square body with canted corners, with a slightly waisted neck rising to an everted rim, and a flared foot of conforming section, covered overall in an attractive pale bluish glaze

Lot Essay

Compare with two Qianlong marked ru-type vases of this rare form. The first published in the Illustrated Catalogue of Tokyo National Museum, Chinese Ceramics, II, 1990, no. 721, from the collection of Hirota Matsushige; the second also from a Japanese collection, sold at Christie's Hong Kong, 28 November 2005, lot 1305.
