AN ENGLISH SILVER-MOUNTED BROWN-GLAZED STONEWARE MUG
EARLY 18TH CENTURY
Of cylindrical form with a ribbed handle, the upper part and handle enriched with a broad brown band, the lower part in a cream glaze, the silver-mounted rim engraved with an entwined mirrored monogram, a circular cartouche engraved with a coat-of-arms in a foliate escutcheon and the name Sam Symonds above a stiff-leaf border, the lower part moulded with concentric bands (very small chip to body, overall glaze crazing)
8 3/8 in. (21.3 cm.) high overall
