CIRCA 1740, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK, INDISTINCT PRESSNUMMER AND IMPRESSED II, THE MOUNTS LATER
Of baluster form with an S-shaped handle and shallow-domed cover, each side painted with figures before ruins in landscapes within gilt quatrefoil scroll cartouches enclosing diaper-pattern panels and suspending pendants, the cover painted with a similar scene, the body with scattered deutsche Blumen, with a gilt-metal shell-moulded thumbpiece and foliate mount, supported on a later gilt-metal foot (minute wear to gilding)
