A pair of miniatures: Claude Marc Antoine d'Apchon (1721-1783), Archbishop of Auch, Gascony, in blue silk ceremonial robes, white-bordered black bands, gold crucifix, seated in a green-upholstered wooden chair, holding a black ceremonial hat, wearing a gold ring, his other hand resting on a leather-bound book on a desk with other books; together with Elizabeth d'Apchon (1713-1766), in fur-bordered blue dress, tied blue ribbons on front and sleeves, frilled white cap with blue ribbon, seated at a table, her elbow resting on an open book
on ivory

The backing card on the reverse of the former is inscribed 'Claude Marc Antoine D'Apchon Archevêque d'Auch. né en 1721. Evêque de Dijon en 1755. transferé à l'Archevêché d'Auch. en 1776. peint a l'huile la même année ; mort en 1783... peint en mignature en 1785. par De St. Pere d'après le portrait original à l'huile de Tischbein.'; the latter, 'Elizabeth d'Apchon née en 1713. Mariée en 1742 a Claude Marie de la Tour. Baron de Créssier peinte en 1755. morte en 1766. Peinte en mignature par de St. Pere d'après le portrait original a l'huile de Vincent·/· en 1785 ·/·'. (2)
