A SWISS PARCEL-ENAMELLED GLASS-LINED GOLD SCENT BOTTLE
GENEVA, CIRCA 1790
Navette-shaped flask on octagonal foot, the sides pierced with friezes of checkerboard, ozier, ovolo, foliate and gadroon pattern, all enamelled with translucent blue taille d'épargne accents, each side centred with a rectangular enamelled plaque, the front plaque depicting a gentleman in lavender holding the hand of a lady in white, the pierced word 'souvenir' below, the reverse plaque depicting a lady in pink holding the hand of a gentleman in yellow historicising fancy dress, the pierced words 'd'amitie' below, blue enamelled ribbon-twist and reeded borders, similarly enamelled independent domed cap, the interior lined in glass, gold loop stopper; contemporary fitted red leather case
