MARK OF PETER WIBERS, NUREMBURG, CIRCA 1620
The shaped lobed bowl engraved at the rim with a band of foliage scrolls populated by exotic birds, the baluster stem applied with scroll supports and with foliage ornament, on spreading lobed foot, the detachable cover with archer finial, the cover applied inside with a later plaque with an engraved inscription, marked near rim and on foot

The later inscription reads 'Ich ruh bey Gott zu angedenk nembt die zwey becher zum geschenk Erasimus Hamer Gott gebe ihn die Ewige Freud das wnschen wir ihn zur anckbarkeit Ao 1718 Den 15 february'

Which translates as 'I rest with God take the two cups as a gift Erasimus Hamer God give him eternal joy this is our wish for him in gratitude AD 1718 17 February'
