Tapering case of oval section, the sides chased with bandwork and rocaille framing repoussé chased allegories of Fame crowned by Cupid on one side and Cupid giving a lesson on the other side, both on sablé ground, the slightly domed wavy cover chased with rocaille, the slightly domed base centred by a rosette, reeded borders, pinchbeck push-piece and incorporated pendant-loop, the interior fitted with scissors, hinged blade, two pencil-holders, bodkin, toothpick and ivory tablet
