cover 1856 (18 Feb.) entire letter from Yunnan (on locally printed headed notepaper "Mission du YUNNAN written by Jospeh Marie Ev. de Sebastopopolis and countersigned by Bishop Jospeh-Marie Chaveau (known in Chinese as "Ting" and later the Vicar Apostolic of Tibet) to the Director de l'Oeuvre de la Sainte-Enfance in Paris (12.9 arrival) showing on reverse "Reçue à Tali" h.s. (ms. "29 Avril 1856") in red, "RANGOON" c.d.s. (July) in brownish and "CAL./G.P.O." c.d.s. (21/7) in red, with framed "INDIA PAID" and "10" dimes h.s. on front; Indian adhesives have been removed from the front.
