Lot Essay

Possett was a concoction of heated wine or ale with milk, embellished with the addition of spices and lemon. The milk would curdle when added giving the appearance of lamb's wool which was another name for the mixture. Possetts were popular gifts and came in many different materials particularly pottery whilst examples in wood are now extremely rare.
