Lot Essay

See Michael Archer, Delftware. The Tin-Glazed Earthenware of the British Isles. A Catalogue of the Collection in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, 1997, p. 247 & 248, C.13, for an example in the museum's collection with a silver mount. See also John C. Austin, British Delft at Williamsburg, Williamsburg, 1994, p. 105, no. 90 for a similar mug.

For a similar globular mug see Frank Britton, London Delftware, London, 1987, p. 90, col. pl. L & p. 135, no. 98 for which a Norfolk House attribution is suggested. Fragments of this dark lustrous blue have been found in both London, at Pickleherring and Norfolk House and at Brislington.

For a similar globular mug see Frank Britton, London Delftware, London, 1987, p. 90, col. pl. L & p. 135, no. 98 for which a Norfolk House attribution is suggested.
