WINES FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE LATE HANS JORISSEN

Lots 200 to 250

Recently removed from excellent cellarage

Hans Jorissen (1946-2007) was a renowned wine afficionado with a special preference for older quality wines. As a student, he was entrusted by the reputable Oegstgeester Winery to purchase their new stock at auctions in Holland and abroad. The youthful enthusiast was rewarded with a few bottles for personal use, with which he started a remarkable collection.

In the early eighties, the then teacher of Neurophysics decided to grow his passion for wine into a second career. As much a passionate promotor as a businessman, he committed himself to the German top wines, which he felt were undervalued by the greater public. Together with Robert Leenears he wrote 'The Atlas of Rijn & Moezelwines' and he was one of the longest serving members of the international jury that selected the best VDP wines for Germany each year. In Holland, his tasting-seminars 'Wijn en Spijs' were almost celebrity events and a fixed date on the wine calender.

Christie's feels very privileged to offer highlights from the great Hans Jorissen collection to a global audience.
