Circa 1760, blue crossed swords mark, Pressnummer 17, gilder's 12 or perhaps 42, the pentimento of the gilt numeral 4 visible beneath the 1
Hemispheric with everted lip, painted front and back with European landscapes within gilt and Böttger luster Laub-und-Bandelwerk cartouches enriched with purple and iron-red scrolls, the sides with sprays of deutsche Blumen, the interior with a bouquet of similar flowers beneath a gilt Gitterwerk band

Lot Essay

It is interesting to note on this one piece decoration associated with 1730 (the cartouches) and 1760 (the deutsche Blumen). This combination documents that Meissen produced replacements and supplements for its own services.
