With a five inch (12.7 cm.) diameter terrestrial globe in place of the Sun, a mechanical stage carrying a skeleton Earth runs along a ring engraved with calendrical scale, within a glass plate etched with eight planetary rings spaced non-linearly, the outer rim engraved with pictorial signs of the zodiac and a degree scale 0°-360°; the whole tilting on an adjustable tripod stand, the globe inscribed PHILIPS EDUCATIONAL TERRESTRIAL GLOBE LONDON GEORGRAPHICAL INSTITUTE GEO.
