WINE FROM A FRIEND OF CHRISTIE'S
The following lots were removed from pristine temperature and humidity controlled home storage from a long-term friend and client of Christie's. This consignor has been an avid and thoughtful collector for many years and is on the mailing lists of the top California estates, many represented below. Tasting samples from his collection have been uniformly outstanding and we encourage you to bid with confidence.

2006 CALIFORNIA VINTAGE

The 2006 vintage was a year that favored top winemakers, as the weather conditions posed a series of challenges from heat to rain and even botrytis. Even so, skilled winemakers and vineyard managers that knew when to pick ended up with a good crop and incredible and concentrated wines with long lifespans were produced. Standouts include Harlan and Colgin along with Sloan and newcomer Futo, all available in original wood cases here.
Harlan Estate--Vintage 2006
Napa Valley
Both lots in original wooden cases
The 2006 Harlan Estate has turned out better than I originally predicted. Its dense ruby/purple color is followed by classic aromas of crème de cassis, melted licorice, smoked meats, burning embers, and graphite. It has thrown off some of the tannic clout it displayed last year, revealing great balance. A candidate for "wine of the vintage," this dense, full-bodied effort has 25+ years of life ahead of it. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2035. RP (#186, Dec 2009)
2 magnums per lot
