MARCASSIN
In 1985, Helen Turley found a jewel in the Sonoma Coast and Marcassin Vineyard had found its home. The name is French for "young wild boar," which can be found roaming the hillside surrounding the vineyard. Turley, a winemaker and consultant whose past clients include Bryant Family Vineyards, Colgin Cellars, Pahlmeyer and others, sought to make wines highlighting the particular terroir of Sonoma vineyards in a low-yielding, Burgundian style. The resulting wines have become a benchmark for Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, ageing gracefully and exhibiting complexity that often garners comparison to established Burgundian Domaines.
