Brad attended his first Who concert as a teenager in 1976, and since then has always been a dedicated fan, going to see them as often as possible, whenever the band played in his hometown of Los Angeles. Brad started collecting in 1988, prompted by the gift of an old Who album from a friend. The collection began by being focused purely on such albums, but it soon diversified to include concert posters (intrigued by the dates and venues of each concert), then awards, before moving onto more personal items, including the ultimate prizes of owned and played instruments; by that time the collection "had already achieved a life of its own", Brad recalls. As a major collector he explains the driving force behind his passion and probably that of all collectors - "Although it's the music that really defines the artist, each piece of memorabilia represents a small fragment of time in their career. Whether it's the guitar that Pete played at the concert you were at or the poster for the show, each piece of memorabilia is a tangible link to the past". However Brad now believes that the time has come to sell on his collection, of which these lots form the first part to come to auction.
