FIRST EDITION of Heylyn's treatise on the Order of the Garter. Chaplain-ordinary to Charles I and Laudian propagandist, Heylyn presented this to the King who was very enthusiastic about the Order and its patron St. George. Appended is a list of all those appointed to the order since its inception in 1350. Marshall 6; STC 13272.
