INDIA (Lots 217-258) Property from the Collection of Raj Krishna Born in India in 1933, Dr. Raj Krishna went on to earn his Master of Law degree from Lucknow University in India in 1956 and in 1966, he earned a PhD in public international law from Australian National University in Canberra. Three years later, he joined the World Bank's Legal Department, where he worked for the duration of his career. Raj Krishna was a scholar and is remembered for his legal work at the World Bank related to ICSID and legal polices on International waterways, disputed areas, and de facto governments. As an avid collector, Dr. Krishna had a great passion for books, photographs and lithographs on India, particularly from the era of the British Raj. He wrote several articles about Indian history and arts and edited a book From Thames to Hooghly; Calcutta Heritage, 1690-1990.. His passion for knowledge, books and India intersected in his collection of books, particularly those pertaining to 19th and 20th century India.

Oblong 2o (338 x 490 mm). Lithographic title, frontispiece and 11 plates after Abbott by Lynch, Harding, MacKenzie, Gauet, list of subscribers, one text leaf, plates on india paper and mounted. Plates and text loose. (Some light soiling and marginal chips or tears.) Housed in a modern cloth folding case.

FIRST EDITION. Abbott's drawings show the great fortress after its capture in 1826. Not in Abbey Travel.
