4o (318 x 242 mm). (Some marginal worming, occasional soiling and spotting, last leaf with stain.) 19th-century calf (worn).

FIRST EDITION. An important document, in which Hastings sets out to justify his actions against Chait Singh, raja of Benares, and the wazir of Oudh. Apart from its historical importance, it may be considered to be the first major historical publication printed at the Honourable Company Press, Calcutta. Not in Lowndes. VERY RARE.
