Very closely related in style to, and perhaps representing the same sitter as, the Head of an old woman, wearing a ruff and cap in the National Gallery of Scotland in Edinburgh (inv. D.1683; Ottawa, Jordaens, no. 153). Although both were included as by Jordaens in the 1968-9 Ottawa catalogue, Held and Haverkamp-Begemann both questioned this decision, the latter (op. cit.) suggesting an attribution to Leendert van der Cooghen.
