MARK OF MARSHALL AND SONS, EDINBURGH, 1858
Oval, the openwork sides formed as reeded wickerwork, applied with cast flowers, with twisted wire handles, the base engraved with a coat-of-arms, later engraved underneath with a facsimilie signature 'Walter', marked inside

The arms are those of Campbell of Blythswood, co. Renfrew, possibly for Archibald Campbell of Blythswood (d.1868). He was born Archibald Douglas but assumed the name and arms of Campbell in 1838 having inheriting the Blythswood estate following the death of his cousin. His son was created Baron Blythswood in 1892.
