Comprising: a horn whip with gold handle engraved with Spencer arms and gold ferrule engraved 'C.R.S., Octr. 30th 1878'; a lady's ash whip by Merry with silver handle engraved 'S'; a lady's bamboo whip with silver-plated handle in the form of a spaniel's head; a leather presentation whip by Swaine & Adeney with silver handle engraved 'Richmond Royal Horse Show, 1923, won by (Tunis); an ash whip with horn handle and tip; a leather-cased whalebone whip with silver handle hallmarked London 1875 and band engraved 'S' with an earl's coronet; two others similar, one by Swaine & Adeney with white-metal mounts similarly engraved; another similar with carved horn handle and silver band hallmarked Birmingham 1896 and engraved 'M.S.'; a leather crop by Merry with two white-metal bands, one engraved 'S' and earl's coronet

Provenance
The gold-mounted crop was a gift to Charles Robert, later 6th Earl Spencer, on his 21st birthday, and thence by descent.
The presentation whip was awarded for the horse Tunis ridden by Mrs Harold Brown of Sywell; Tunis belonged to Albert Edward John, 7th Earl Spencer.
