Lot Essay
Lieutenant-Colonel Charles Francis Seymour of the 4th Division of the Scots Fusiliers Guards, was the eldest son of Colonel Sir Horace Beauchamp Seymour (see lot 281) and Elizabeth Malet Palk (1797-1827). He was the brother-in-law of Frederick, 4th Earl Spencer (1798-1857). Lt.-Col. Charles Francis Seymour was killed at the Battle of Inkerman, which took place during the Crimean War between Allied forces from Britain and France against the Imperial Russian Army.
