MARK OF J.B. CARRINGTON, LONDON, 1893
The lower body spiral fluted with two reeded scroll handles, one side chased with a cartouche engraved with the Spencer crest, the rim engraved with an inscription
5½ in. (xx cm.) high
The inscription reads 'Cecil Edward Robert Spencer from Tweedmouth June 16 1894' and relates to Cecil Edward Robert Spencer (1894-1928), third son of Charles Robert, 6th Earl Spencer.
Provenance
Presumably a christening gift to Cecil Edward Robert Spencer from his Godfather, Edward Majoribanks, 2nd Baron Tweedmouth KT, PC (1849-1909).
