etching, 1631, on laid paper watermark shield, the fourth (final) state, a good impression but showing some wear in the hat, trimmed on or just within the platemark above and at right, trimmed to the subject below and at left (the left edge slightly uneven), a rust spot to the left of the sitter's cap (worn through), a foxmark in his robe, pale motting overall, two soft diagonal creases in the left sheet
