maker's mark IB with crown, struck incuse, probably Dutch, circa 1759

The tortoiseshell body mounted with a silver three-quarter hinged cover finely engraved with hunting and boating scenes amongst a typical Dutch country landscape of narrow canals partly lined with trees, bull-rushes and a wooden shed, the lower section cast in relief with swags and engraved above with a ribbon-tied musical trophy, the border engraved with a laurel band
