Jean-Pierre Claris de Florian, nephew of Voltaire, was a renowned fable writer of the 18th Century. Born at Chateau de Florian (Languedoc) in 1755, he spent most of his years in Paris where he wrote in 1792 Fables, his most acclaimed work.
