LATE WARRING STATES/WESTERN HAN DYNASTY, 4TH CENTURY BC-1ST CENTURY AD
Comprising: two chapes, both of lenticular section, the sides carved with angular scrolls, the bottom pierced for attachment, the taller with slightly flared sides; and two circular pommels, one with central hole, well carved on top with commas joined by lines to form angles, and with conjoined scrolls on the underside, the other with domed center carved with a whorl motif within an outer field of commas, both with a circular channel on the underside for attachment
Chapes 2 in. (5.1 cm.) wide, pommels l¾ and 1½ in. (4.5 and 4 cm.) diam. (4)
