EXCELLENT VINTAGES OF PORT INCLUDING TAYLOR 1955, FONSECA 1963 AND PARCELS OF TOP SHIPPERS FROM THE 1970 VINTAGE
Lying in Weybridge, Surrey (EHD)
Believed Cockburn--Vintage 1908
Two with embossed wax capsules, slightly damaged, two with metal capsules, one slightly damaged. No labels. Levels: one into neck, two base of neck, one top-shoulder
Tasting note: "Arguably the greatest-ever Cockburn which I have been privileged to taste several times. Most recently, from an old three part, moulded bottle, top of lead capsule embossed ' Cockburn's 1908 Port', fully branded cork, level top shoulder. Palish ruddy-hued old tawny, good fruit, touch of mint and liquorice, fully opened out after 40 minutes, sweet, slightly raisiny, glorious, and still excellent the next day. Medium-sweet, full bodied, very rich, good texture. A very assertive heavyweight, yet ethereal, cognac-like. Flavour. Last tasted Nov 1990. ***** M.B.
