Edo period (18th-19th century)
An ivory netsuke carved as a snarling lion on a short plinth -- 1½in. (3.8cm.) high; a kagamibuta netsuke with large ivory bowl fitted with a shakudo plate with Daruma holding a whisk on a nanako ground, rendered in high relief in shakudo, copper and brass inlay, with incised details -- 2½in. (6.4cm.) diameter; a kagamibuta netsuke with large ivory bowl fitted with a gold plate with a man grabbing a geisha from behind as a dog looks on, the figures and instruments rendered in shakudo and gilt inlay, with incised sliding shoji screen and grass, signed Suifu ju Tamagawa Yoshihisa and with kao -- 2½in. (6.4cm.) diameter; a pierced ivory manju carved with a lion on a floral ground and waves and a wheel to the reverse, with inlaid metal eyes -- 1½in.
